ALUMNI

David Engler ’12L

Doane University graduate David Engler was recently named acting fire chief of Lincoln Fire and Rescue. Engler started at Lincoln Fire and Rescue as a firefighter-paramedic in 1996 and was named fire captain in 2006. He was later promoted to battalion chief in 2018. Engler received his bachelor's degree in public administration from Doane in 2012. For more details about this announcement, click here

ATHLETICS

Wrestling ranked #1 in GPAC

The Doane wrestling team is currently ranked #1 in the GPAC with four wrestlers ranked #1 in their weight class and 10 wrestlers ranked overall. This marks the first time in program history the team has been ranked #1 in the GPAC. Doane also sits 18th in the NAIA national rankings, the highest ranked team in the state. Junior Baagii Boldmaa (pictured above) is a defending national champion at 141 lbs. The Tigers have a home dual with York College, ranked 19th nationally, on December 3. 

 

AROUND CAMPUS

Greek Challenge

With seven days remaining in Greek Challenge 2020, 326 individuals have donated over $43,000. The Advancement staff thanks everyone for their generous contributions! The Greek Challenge is designed to raise funds for Doane with the goal of each Greek group to receive gifts and/or pledges from 15% of their alumni base. If interested, Greek alumni can support Doane through their respective group's campaign through November 24. Just go to doane.edu/greekchallenge and search for your group.

End of the semester nearing

The fall semester on the Crete campus is wrapping up very soon, with finals concluding on Wednesday, November 25. The Winter 1 term for non-residential students will end on Saturday, December 12. Best of luck to all students in the home stretch!
