Dr. Rita Charon to give virtual guest lecture to Doane Community

Dr. Rita Charon, a physician, literary scholar, and founder and Executive Director of the Division of Narrative Medicine at Columbia University will be giving a virtual guest lecture to the Doane Community this evening at 7:00pm.

Doane receives funding for students interested in earning PLADC certification

Doane students interested in becoming a provisionally licensed alcohol and drug counselor now have the opportunity to take a number of undergraduate counseling courses for free.

Jamie DeWispelare ’98

Jamie DeWispelare has been named the new Chief Financial Officer at LandSouth Construction, a company headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida that specializes in multifamily, senior living, and mixed-used construction throughout the Southeast. DeWispelare earned a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Doane in 1998. The full announcement from LandSouth can be seen here.

ATHLETICS

Men's Basketball Starts Season 2-0

The Doane men's basketball team has started the 2020-21 season strong, defeating Sterling College 84-73 and York College 75-66 in their first two games. Junior guard Trey Winkler is averaging 14.5 points per game and junior forward Ben Moxness is averaging 14.0 points per game to lead the Tigers. Doane has two games this weekend in the Bellevue Classic, taking on Bellevue University and Dickinson State University.

Relay For Life Kickoff

All Doane students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends are invited to join the university in kicking off Relay For Life 20/21 as we SCARE THE PANTS OFF OF CANCER, a theme we feel perfectly captures this kickoff event. Half Off Kickoff will occur from October 28th - October 30th. During the three day fall kickoff you will be able to register at half price. The half price code is DURFL (valid Oct. 28 - 30). Donations towards Doane's Relay For Life event and registratiton can be submitted here.

Upcoming Theatre Production

Doane's Theatre Department will be putting on the production of WWZ: A Surivor's Tale of the Great Zombie Pandemic on November 12 and 13 at 7:30pm. The performances will be live streamed via Twitch. Tickets are free, but must be reserved in advance. Tickets can be reserved here.
