Ohlman awarded top honor by NAfME

Kathleen Ohlman, assistant professor of practice in Doane's music education program, has been named a Lowell Mason Fellow by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). The fellowship is one of the highest honors the organization can give to American music educators.

Praytell, Brooklyn-based advertising agency founded by Andy Pray ’02, named PRWeek's Agency of the Year

 

Less than eight years after founding the advertising agency Praytell, Andy Pray's agency has grown to 150 employees in multiple locations. Earlier this year, Praytell was named Agency of the Year by PRWeek, recognized as the most prestigious honor in the industry.

Academic calendar adjusted for Crete campus spring semester

Cody Redford ’19

Cody Redford, a social studies teacher at Papillion La Vista Middle School, was recently awarded the Rookie Teacher of the Year at the Papillion La Vista Community Schools Greatness Awards. The awards banquet is usually held at Werner Park but awards this fall were handed out to the teachers at their respective schools by surprise.

ATHLETICS

Men's Soccer starts 2-2, faces Hastings College tonight

The Doane men's soccer team is off to a 2-2 start, notching wins over Presentation College and Dakota Wesleyan University. Markus Pieper, Kobi Smith, and Reynaldo Villafuerte each have two goals a piece through four games. The Tigers game at Hastings College is scheduled to begin at 8:00pm. The Doane women's game against Hastings will begin at 5:30pm.

Virtual Concert

On Saturday the Doane music department held a virtual concert online. All instrumental and vocal ensembles presented an afternoon of music in a socially-distanced concert broadcast from the Cassel Outdoor Theater on the Crete campus. The concert also included the premiere of "COVID-19: A Sequence" composed by Dr. Matthew Fuerst.

Souchek appointed to Professional Development Committee of National Environmental Organization

Dr. Russ Souchek, Professor of Environmental Science, has accepted an invitation to join the Professional Development Committee of the Association for Environmental Studies and Sciences.  This committee is responsible for investigating and recommending options that have the greatest potential for improving the quality and the institutional status of work on Environmental Studies and Sciences. These options include the development of criteria and standards for accreditation of college/university programs in Environmental Studies and Environmental Sciences and recommended criteria and standards for reviews of tenure and promotion cases.
